I was on the UL Board for 7 years in the late 90s into the early 2000s when Margo Clark was President. When I’d walk into the League for our board meeting, I remember that Thomas always had a smile on his face, as if he couldn’t help it. Friendly and the proper gentleman. He was great at his job. And boy did his face light up when Mustang was mentioned. It was a pleasure working with him and an even greater pleasure getting to know him. Congratulations on your retirement. I’m sending all best wishes!

I would like to extend a very warm congratulations to Mr. Victory on his retirement from the Urban League. We began our partnership/relationship back in 1999 under the then president, Margo Clarke. Mr. Victory was then Associate Director of the league when we began working together on diabetes and cholesterol screenings to low income families. He has been a very staunch advocate of Optima Family Care helping drive the message of “We Improve Health Everyday” to the community. Mr. Victory has been a member of the Optima Family Care Advisory Board for 12 years and we hope he continues to be a partner and friend of Optima Family Care. Congratulations and many well wishes to our friend and partner.

We met Thomas by pure luck. Our daughter attended VCU and stayed in the Richmond area after graduation. We live in South Boston, Virginia two hours south of Richmond. My wife and I love Mustangs and while visiting our daughter we happened to be riding beside a yellow mustang with the Victory7 sticker in the window. Well, we researched and found out that the club was located in the Richmond area and found a number for Vic. Vic and the club welcomed us with open arms. Thomas and Jackie even drove the two hours to the home-going of my father and to help us celebrate Brenda’s 50th birthday. We still try to make it to as many functions as we can and we will always be the out of town Victory7 members. Much luck to Thomas on his retirement and much patience to Jackie. We love you much and may God continue to bless you.

You have endured some trials and tribulations. You had a number of hurdles and mountains to overcome but you made it. We the family are so proud of your accomplishments down through the years. Enjoy your well deserved retirement. Spoil Jackie, enjoy spending time with your grandson, give your sons the Mustang and buy that Chevy for your retirement car.

Mr. Victory offered the community a dedicated community leader for more than three decades. In the past 5 years, I have known a humbled and selfless public servant. I spoke with Mr. Victory nearly a year ago, shortly after I became President of Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals (auxiliary of Urban League). I expressed to Mr. Victory my passion, enthusiasm and anxiety in taking on such a gargantuan role. Calm and charismatic as always, he simply said “You will do fine. I am so proud of my YPs.” I have expressed both privately & publically how honored I am to stand in the shadows of greatness. Thank you for your support to Urban League, the community and me.
Mr. Victory, your story is still being written. As I sketch the notes of my life, you and Urban League have impacted me in immeasurable ways. In absolute gratitude, you were my CEO and now Friend.

Over the past year, I have learned what it truly means to be a social worker under Mr. Victory. His work does not just come from his brain, but from his heart. I have never met another individual who has dedicated as much of his life to serving the greater good and surrounding communities as Mr. Victory. Under his direction, we have seen the Urban League strengthen its stability and capabilities of working towards equalizing social and economic conditions in Richmond. Above all else, Mr. Victory has taught me to stay true to my heart, to see the strength of every person, and to focus on a positive environment. I want to thank him for all that he has done for me, for Virginia, and to remind him that he will always be a part of my family.

Congratulations Mr. Victory For Your 33 Years Of Services
You will remain an “Icon” to me. Working with you here at D19 Community Services Board was a blessing. I have been her for 34 years and working with you for my first year here, I can go straight down memory lane.
You always were pleasant to work with. Always wore a genuine smile. You always put family first and spoke of your wife often. Would always say that you, “Wanted a son and that you would buy him an electric train.” LOL
Yes, I also remember you having “Besty” the mustang!
I wish you the best in your new horizon, I am quit sure after wearing so many hats that your shoes are going to be hard to fill. Stay strong and I wish you good health, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and peace within. If I have left out something, I wish that for you also.
My Prayers Follow You,

I would like to congratulate Mr. Thomas Victory on his retirement. I remember meeting him a few years ago covering one of the fundraisers the Urban League was sponsoring and we hit it off right off the bat. Mr. Victory was always approachable and always had an ear for some great advice when ever I came to him. I found him very genuine and a lover of his yellow sports car. It’s hard to find people like that who have a successful career and have nothing else to prove but genuinely nice. I’m sure he’s due for a long vacation working tirelessly for the Urban League and making it the success it is today. He’ll be missed terribly but I’m also sure he will make himself available if and when he’s called upon for his advice. Enjoy your retirement and God bless, thank you for your friendship.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Essa

Mr. Victory, please accept my congratulations on your retirement! I remember the first day as a young student intern, at the Urban League of Greater Richmond like it was yesterday (although it was over 10 years ago). I remember especially your commitment, your dedication, and your willingness to share your knowledge with students under your tutelage. My academic “training” as you will at Virginia Commonwealth School of Social work, was exceptional,; but my hands on work and supervision under your leadership shaped how I work with people on daily basis. I have progressed in the helping profession; and I know that is due in part to your continued encouragement and mentoring.
Thank you Mr. Victory for your community activism, your mentorship and dedication!
Well Done, Sir!
