Virginia State University’s Lamesha Deal, whose 9.1 rebounding average leads the conference is the 2012-13 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year in balloting by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Coaches Associations. Lamesha Deal averaged 13.8 points per game with a league leading 9.1 rebounds per game. While ranking first in rebounding, she collected 126 defensive rebounds and 84 offensive rebounds ranking second in both categories in the conference.
