Staying fit and healthy can help lower the risk for many illnesses and diseases. For people who want to start working out, summer can be a great time to build a routine when work schedules are less strict and school is out. Working out, of course, can cause sweating, but it can be even more uncomfortable for some to work out under the hot sun.
Time of day
Some ways to avoid discomfort from the sun can be to wisely choose the time of day to work out. Running, jogging or walking early in the morning can be a sure way to avoid the sun before it reaches its hottest of the day.
Swimming
Swimming can be a fun and effortless way to be active in the summertime. Many apartment complexes and communities have neighborhood pools available for residents. Gymnasiums and places such as the YMCAs also offer indoor pools for those who truly want to be secluded from the sun’s heat.
Gymnasiums
Along with pools, gyms can offer many machines, group classes, and rooms for sport practice. One important thing gyms offer in the summertime is a place to work out with air conditioning.
Water Games
Many stores offer water games and objects which can be used outside. Things such as inflatable pools and toys can help keep both parents and their children active for a cheap price during the summertime.
Sunset Walks
When off from work and when free time is available, strolls around the block while the sun is low can be another way to stay active in the summer. “When the sun is low in the sky, I like to take an evening stroll around the neighborhood with my husband and dog,” Tina Haupert said in an article on health.com. “It’s a nice way for us to get in some exercise when the temperatures aren’t as high, and also to relax after a long day.”
