If you’re meeting Evelyn Quaye, look for a crowd. Evelyn has a way of drawing attention, whether she’s singing, playing keyboards, painting murals or sketching portraits, and especially when she’s behind the wheel of her 1996 Dodge Neon, a gift to her by the organization Fresh Start for Single Mothers and their Children.

It’s not your average highway beater. This car has been transformed into an eye-popping four door gig bag. It’s covered in color and splashed with scenes including Bob Marley, a horse with wings, a mermaid, a relaxing Rottweiler, a beautiful woman haloed by flowers, Evelyn’s comic character Julius and much more.

“Most people, they smile or they exclaim,” Evelyn admits. “Some people are just surprised. Every now and then somebody gets excited and they have to go tell everyone. Usually it’s a lot of excitement.”
