There was a star-studded assembly on Wednesday, November 15th, at Lucille M. Brown Middle School: Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Steven R. Staples and Virginia Secretary of Education Dr. Dietra Trent were there to celebrate the school’s accomplishments in STEM education. Also in attendance was Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation. Cameras were rolling as Milken presented social studies teacher Ryan James with the surprise of a lifetime: Virginia’s 2017-18 Milken Educator Award and $25,000.
