While they are not in school, sick one of the best ways to keep a child active mentally and physically is by enrolling them in summer camps. With about a month left before children go back to school, physician there are still camps which offer sessions for the month of August. Richmondsummercamps.org lists multiple camps and the contact information for each. There are numerous camps to choose from, but for families on a budget, there are camps which cost $100 or less.
Disney Frozen Camp hosted by Melody Magic music studio
This Richmond camp is for children between the ages of 5 and 12. It is $65 a week. The next session will start Aug 4-8, and there will also be a session Aug 11-15. The camp is a performing arts camp teaching children in areas, such as stage presence and dance with a performance at the end of the week.
Richmond Strikers Soccer Club
This organization has multiple camps and has two in the month of August which are $100 for enrollment. One camp for $100 held in August is the Technical Preparation Program for U11- U14 children. This camp is Aug 4-7 from 8:30- 11:30 a.m. Another camp for U9-U10 is Foundation Program Preseason Mini Camp which will be from Aug 12-14 from 9-12 a.m.
Richmond Kickers: Futsal Camps for U9-U10
The Richmond Kickers also offer a $100 Futsal camp Aug 11-15. The sight describes Futsal as “a scaled down version of conventional soccer.” The camp will be led by Kickers’ Brazilian midfielder Gerson Dos Santos.
CORE Kids Camp
This Richmond camp offers children of multiple ages a chance to participate in activities such as art projects, a 30 foot inflatable caterpillar obstacle course, and a chance to build gymnastic skills for $75.
YMCA Summer Camp
Not exactly $100, but community members can pay $135 for their children to enroll in this well-known summer camp. There are three week long sessions in the month of August. The YMCA’s website lists activities such as literacy, music and drama, swimming, arts and crafts, games and sports for children to participate in.
