Summer is right around the corner; which means a lot of sun and a lot of outdoor activity. While these are the benefits of summer, viagra order there are also consequences. Heat exhaustion, cramping, and dry skin are just some examples of the negative health effects of the hot season. Urban Views Weekly has some tips on what to eat in order to avoid these adverse effects.
Dry Skin
Because our bodies need to stay at a constant temperature, when it’s hot outside we sweat to cool down. Sweating profusely, especially during physical activity when it’s hot can result in dry skin because, as WebMD writer Christina Frank says, saltwater and chlorine (from pools) create a drying effect. Ways to combat this, Frank says, are eating foods like raspberries, blueberries and strawberries which have a lot of antioxidants and vitamin C that repair damaged skin cells.
Yeast Infections
A lot of people go to the pool during the summer for extended periods of time, where they sit in wet, warm environments for those long hours. This is the perfect situation in which yeast can grow. In order to fight summer yeast infections, Frank recommends cutting back on sugary foods that can produce the yeast.
Dehydrated Hair
Similar to dry skin, hair becomes dry and dehydrated as well after staying in the sun for too long. Besides wearing a hat, it’s highly recommended to eat foods rich in protein. So, eating that burger or kabob at the family cookout isn’t as bad as you think, because foods like that provide protein fibers called keratin that makes it possible for hair to stay healthy.
Muscle Cramps
Going to the beach and playing volleyball or football for a while without proper hydration can cause cramps. This can then lead to pulls which immobilizes people and makes the summer less enjoyable. Of course, drinking water and sports drinks, like Gatorade, helps you to stay hydrated, but eating foods rich in potassium, like bananas, can also help to avoid those heat cramps during the summer.
