Emily Gabbert, viagra 60mg a senior at Richmond Community High School, ambulance is a self-starter. She founded the Culinary Brigade at her high school when she was a junior. She said her English teacher, shop Mr. Valentine, had been a chef prior to going into education. So, in 2013 she approached him about starting a cooking club at RCHS. “Every Monday, we stay back and either cook in the teacher’s lounge or we’ll have a lesson or if he wants to teach us about the chemistry of food or different food philosophies then he will,” Emily said.
She said she first got into cooking during her first two years of high school. RCHS hosts an international night in which students make dishes from different countries and cultures. “I had to cook stuff for my French class and after that I discovered that I really liked cooking,” Emily said. “I started watching the Food Network shows and tried to cook for real from there.”
Aside from her culinary activities, Emily is also highly involved. She is also in her school jazz band, the editor-in-chief at her school yearbook and the president of the National Student Honor Society. However, while she does stay involved she said she tries to enjoy leisure time as well. “I try not to let my school and related activities consume my time outside of the institution. I love attending festivals in Richmond, going to the Byrd with friends, and eating at new restaurants.”
Emily, clearly, is a very rounded individual. She hopes to take all the skills she learned during her time in school on to the next level of education. She said she has already committed to George Mason University for the fall of 2014, where she will also be a student in the honors college and will major in criminology. “I have always been interested in the human mind, what makes it tick and why people do things the way that they do,” she said. “I just want to be able to use the knowledge that I’m going to get in college in order to study the deviance of society.” Once she graduates college, Emily said that at first she wanted to be a profiler or a criminologist, but at this point she was thinking she will want to join the FBI or CIA.
With about two months left until graduation, Emily said that she’s very excited for college. “I am looking forward to finding new friends and exploring what kind of people I can hang out with,” she said. “Also, (I’m looking forward to) getting into my studies and criminology.”
