Every March is National Nutrition Month, an effort by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to encourage nutrition education and healthy eating and exercise habits.
This year, the national effort is focusing on helping Americans find ways to eat healthy while considering individual cultures, lifestyles, income levels and other health concerns.
For the month of March, the city of Richmond is encouraging residents to exchange sugary drinks for water. According to their release, water:
- moisturizes the air in lungs
- helps with metabolism
- regulates body temperature
- detoxifies
- protects and moisturizes our joints
- moisturizes our skin.
- Can aid in weight loss or management
Check out more information about how water can benefit you and check back during the month to get more information about how to create healthier eating habits.
