World Hoop Day 2012

When was the last time you stepped into a hula hoop?
Kids, families and hoop lovers of all ages are encouraged to join the fun of World Hoop Day on December 12, 2012. The free celebration is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dogtown Dance Theater 109 West 15th Street. There will be free food and 100 hula hoops given out that are handmade by the RVA Hoop House.
World Hoop Day is celebrated all over the world. The goal is to bring joy through playing to children around the world. Playing and being active is undervalued in today’s technological age of information. World Hoop Day provides cost-effective toys that double as a portable gym to remote areas of the world where resources are limited. Hooping also improves self-confidence, inner peace, and relieves depression.
The RVA Hoop House is a collective of movement artists devoted to building local and global community wellness through the Love of Hoop Dance. They are passionate about providing a safe, all-inclusive, judgment-free atmosphere, where lives may be enhanced by creative self-expression and active living.
The RVA Hoop House invites all children, children at heart, and the Richmond community to share the vision of creating a more peaceful world through play and giving back.
