Virginia State University’s Rashad Vesprey (senior/ Brooklyn, NY) has been named CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The captain of the Trojans defense recorded 7 total tackles in a 14-13 loss to West Liberty University on Saturday, September 8th in Rogers Stadium. Vesprey had a career-day for the Trojans with 5 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and 2 sacks against the West Liberty offense. Vesprey led the Trojans defense that held West Liberty to only 44 rushing yards (1.4 average yards per rush).

Virginia State travels to Charlie W. Johnson Stadium in Columbia, SC on Saturday, September 15th to play in the annual Palmetto Capital City Classic against Benedict College at 4 p.m.
