On April 17, free admission to more than 15 museums will offer programs and guided tours throughout the city. Historic Tredegar’s Civil War & Emancipation Day includes the offerings of neighboring institutions. Free shuttle service will be offered throughout downtown Richmond, Jackson Ward, Shockoe Bottom, and into the Museum District to sites including the Virginia Historical Society, Maggie Walker Historical Site, Valentine Richmond History Center and more. Venture Richmond and Segway of Richmond will offer free Canal Cruises and tours of Brown’s Island. April 17 is also the second annual Maggie Walker Heritage Day, offering one-act plays, a Maggie Walker re-enactor, and more at Maggie Walker National Historic Site, 600 N. 2nd St, 11 am-3 pm. Free ice cream while it lasts.
