Karrine Steffans is a former model in hip hop videos and the New York Times bestselling author of Confessions of a Video Vixen (Harper Collins) and The Vixen Diaries (Grand Central Publishing), autobiographies in which she holds nothing back. The books catapulted Karrine to fame by naming her famous partners, many of whom were married, and rating their sexual skills.
Born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Karrine moved to Florida when she was ten. She suffered an abusive childhood and eventually got pregnant by rapper Kool G. Rap. After ending the violent union, she briefly contemplated suicide. Instead, she moved to Los Angeles. She admits to striving to be famous, and taking partners including DMX, Xzibit, Puff Daddy, Jay-Z, Doctor Dre, Ice-T, Ja Rule, Usher, Bobby Brown, nba star Shaquille O’Neal, actor Vin Diesel and more. After almost dying from a drug overdose at LA restaurant Mr. Chow’s, she got help and discovered God. She appeared with Vin Diesel in her first film, A Man Apart. She wrote her books, she says, to show other women the dangerous path of seeking stardom. She appeared on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show titled “Smart Women on Stupid Girls” condemning young women who, much like she’d already successfully done, aspire to fame using the men and media of hip hop.
